Sisters

She is your mirror, shining back at you with a world of possibilities. She is your witness, who sees you at your worst and best, and loves you anyway. She is your partner in crime, your midnight companion, someone who knows when you are smiling, even in the dark. She is your teacher, your defense attorney, your personal press agent, even your shrink. Some days, she's the reason you wish you were an only child.- Barbara Alpert

A sister smiles when one tells one's stories - for she knows where the decoration has been added. - Chris Montaigne

A sister is a little bit of childhood that can never be lost. - Marion C Garretty

Husbands come and go; children come and eventually they go. Friends grow up and move away. But the one thing that's never lost is your sister. - Gail Sheeny

A younger sister is someone to use as a guinea pig in trying sledges and experimental go-carts. Someone to send on messages to Mum. But someone who needs you -- who comes to you with bumped heads, grazed knees, tales of persecution. Someone who trusts you to defend her. Someone who thinks you know the answers to almost everything. - Pam Brown

Having a sister is like having a best friend you can't get rid of. You know whatever you do, they'll still be there. - Amy Li

A sister is a little bit of childhood that can never be lost. - Marion C. Garretty

You can kid the world. But not your sister. - Charlotte Gray

What's the good of news if you haven't a sister to share it? - Jenny DeVries

If sisters were free to express how they really feel, parents would hear this: "Give me all the attention and all the toys and send Rebecca to live with Grandma." - Linda Sunshine

I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones. - Author unknown, attributed to a 4-year-old named Lauren

When mom and dad don't understand, a sister always will. - Author Unknown

To the outside world we all grow old. But not to brothers and sisters. We know each other as we always were. We know each other's hearts. We share private family jokes. We remember family feuds and secrets, family griefs and joys. We live outside the touch of time. - Clara Ortega

Our brothers and sisters are there with us from the dawn of our personal stories to the inevitable dusk. - Susan Scarf Merrell

Sisters annoy, interfere, criticize. Indulge in monumental sulks, in huffs, in snide remarks. Borrow. Break. Monopolize the bathroom. Are always underfoot. But if catastrophe should strike, sisters are there. Defending you against all comers. - Pam Brown

One of the best things about being an adult is the realization that you can share with your sister and still have plenty for yourself. - Betsy Cohen

We may look old and wise to the outside world. But to each other, we are still in junior school. - Charlotte Gray

Whatever you do they will love you; even if they don't love you they are connected to you till you die. You can be boring and tedious with sisters, whereas you have to put on a good face with friends. - Deborah Moggach

You keep your past by having sisters. As you get older, they're the only ones who don't get bored if you talk about your memories. - Deborah Moggach

Love

Love is what you've been through with somebody!

There are four questions of value in life... What is sacred? Of what is the spirit made? What is worth living for, and what is worth dying for? The answer to each is the same. Only love.

The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.

Age does not protect you from love. But love, to some extent, protects you from age.

Honesty is the only way with anyone, when you'll be so close as to be living inside each other's skins.

There is always some madness in love. But there is also always some reason in madness.

Solutions

If you think there's a solution, you're part of the problem.

The only difference between a problem and a solution is that people understand the solution.

There are very few personal problems that cannot be solved through a suitable application of high explosives.

For every problem there is a solution which is simple, clean and wrong.- Henry Louis Mencken (American humorous Journalist and Critic of American life who influenced US fiction through the 1920s, 1880-1956)

In the book of life, the answers aren't in the back.

Answer them [critics] with silence and indifference. It works better, I assure you, than anger and argument.

I think the next best thing to solving a problem is finding some humor in it. - Frank A. Clark

Two paradoxes are better than one; they may even suggest a solution.

The scientific mind does not so much provide the right answers as ask the right questions.

We may need to solve problems not by removing the cause but by designing the way forward even if the cause remains in place.

When you confront a problem you begin to solve it.

If the only tool you have is a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail.

Problems

We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.

Don't be pushed by your problems. Be led by your dreams.

The best years of your life are the ones in which you decide your problems are your own. You do not blame them on your mother, the ecology, or the president. You realize that you control your own destiny.

My biggest problem is what to do about all the things I can't do anything about. - Ashleigh Brilliant

The important thing about a problem is not its solution, but the strength we gain in finding the solution.

If we can really understand the problem, the answer will come out of it, because the answer is not separate from the problem.

A problem is a chance for you to do your best.

The solution of every problem is another problem. - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

If your happiness depends on what somebody else does, I guess you do have a problem. - Richard Bach

Every problem has a gift for you in its hands.

Problems are not the problem; coping is the problem.

Engineers like to solve problems. If there are no problems handily available, they will create their own problems. - Scott Adams

It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare, it is because we do not dare that things are difficult.

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in, forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day, you shall begin it well and serenely...

Reality

Illusions commend themselves to us because they save us pain and allow us to enjoy pleasure instead. We must therefore accept it without complaint when they sometimes collide with a bit of reality against which they are dashed to pieces.

There are no facts, only interpretations.

Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.

How do we know that the sky is not green and we are all colour-blind?

What is reality anyway! It's nothing but a collective hunch. ~Jane Wagner, The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe, 1985, performed by Lily Tomlin

What we call reality is an agreement that people have arrived at to make life more livable.

Few people have the imagination for reality.

Listening to both sides of a story will convince you that there is more to a story than both sides.

Reality is the leading cause of stress amongst those in touch with it.

I hate cameras. They are so much more sure than I am about everything.

Truth, as any dictionary will tell you, is a property of certain of our ideas. It means their "agreement," as falsity means their disagreement, with "reality."

How reluctantly the mind consents to reality!

Imagination is the one weapon in the war against reality.

Everything you can imagine is real. ~ Pablo Picasso

Eyes

The eye sees a thing more clearly in dreams than the imagination awake.

My eyes are an ocean in which my dreams are reflected.

There is a road from the eye to heart that does not go through the intellect.

The eye sees only what the mind is prepared to comprehend.

Conversion is not implanting eyes, for they exist already; but giving them a right direction, which they have not.

In a real estate man's eye, the most expensive part of the city is where he has a house to sell.

Anyone can look at other's eyes, but Lovers can see into each other's souls through the eyes.

Few are those who see with their own eyes and feel with their own hearts.

The soul that can speak through the eyes, can also kiss with a gaze.

All our souls are written in our eyes.

If you haven't cried, your eyes can't be beautiful.

I need no dictionary of quotations to remind me that the eyes are the windows of the soul.

You never know how you look through other people's eyes.

Some eyes threaten like a loaded and levelled pistol, and others are as insulting as hissing or kicking; some have no more expression than blueberries, while others are as deep as a well which you can fall into.

Relationships

Man is a knot into which relationships are tied.

Remember, we all stumble, every one of us. That's why it's a comfort to go hand in hand.

Don't smother each other. No one can grow in the shade.

Assumptions are the termites of relationships.

Someone to tell it to is one of the fundamental needs of human beings.

Soul-mates are people who bring out the best in you. They are not perfect but are always perfect for you.

Sometimes you have to get to know someone really well to realize you're really strangers.

Once the realization is accepted that even between the closest human beings infinite distances continue, a wonderful living side by side can grow, if they succeed in loving the distance between them which makes it possible for each to see the other whole against the sky.
